How ReveIQ calculates coverage
The ReveIQ Productivity Calculator uses a standard CDI staffing model: Daily reviewable census = Daily admissions × Average LOS. The assumption is that each active inpatient case represents one daily review opportunity (initial review plus re-reviews as needed during the stay).

Coverage ratio = Team daily capacity ÷ Daily reviewable census. Team capacity is your FTE count multiplied by the average reviews per CDI specialist per day. ReveIQ defaults to 18 reviews per FTE per day, which reflects typical productivity when specialists are reviewing concurrent inpatient cases with appropriate technology support. Adjust this up for new-concept reviews or down for complex tertiary case mix.

Benchmark reference: starting CDI programs often operate at 30-50% coverage, maturing programs at 50-75%, and mature programs at 75-100% with sophisticated prioritization to focus specialist time on the highest-yield cases.

Important disclaimer. Staffing ratios are directional estimates from publicly known CDI program structures. Actual optimal staffing depends on case mix complexity, technology support, review methodology, re-review frequency, and facility-specific workflow. Use as a starting point for conversations with leadership, not as the final staffing model. ReveIQ is a reference tool, not professional advice.
