How ReveIQ defines each KPI
Gross Collection Rate = Total cash ÷ Total gross charges. Reflects real-world cash yield against the amounts you bill. Low on its own doesn't indicate a problem — it tracks with your payer mix and contractual adjustment levels.

Net Collection Rate = Total cash ÷ Net patient revenue. The single most important revenue cycle KPI. This measures how much of what you're entitled to collect, you actually collected. Sustained net collection rates below 95% warrant investigation into denials, underpayments, or collection process gaps.

Adjusted Collection % = Total cash ÷ (Gross charges − Contractual adjustments). Similar to NCR but includes only contractual write-downs, not charity or bad debt. Useful for isolating payer performance from patient-pay performance.

Contractual Adjustment % = Contractuals ÷ Gross charges. Reflects the weighted average payer discount from your payer mix. Used primarily to spot shifts in payer mix or contract renegotiations.

Bad Debt % and Charity Care % measure patient-pay portions that go uncollected, either because the patient cannot pay (bad debt) or qualifies for financial assistance (charity).
