How ReveIQ estimates severity
The ReveIQ SOI/ROM Classifier applies a simplified severity weighting model derived from general CDI and coding principles. Each diagnosis carries a base severity weight (1–4 points), and the combined score across principal and secondary diagnoses maps to the four standard severity subclasses:

LV1 (Minor): Score 1–3 · Straightforward case, few comorbidities
LV2 (Moderate): Score 4–7 · Typical comorbidity burden
LV3 (Major): Score 8–12 · Significant acute findings or chronic conditions
LV4 (Extreme): Score 13+ · Multi-system involvement, critical illness

This is a simplified estimation model, not a formal APR-DRG grouper. Final severity in your encoder may differ based on dx interactions, exclusions, and grouper logic not captured here. Use ReveIQ as a documentation completeness check — if your case scores lower than expected, it's a signal to look for missed documentation opportunities.
